MBABANE – Stevenson Ngubane, 55, has been appointed CEO of Swaziland Railways. He has steered the organisation as acting CEO since the retirement of former company CEO Gideon Mahlalela. Ngubane’s contract expires in 2016 – although renewal is likely – at a time when construction of a new western rail route connecting Swaziland with Lothair in Mpumalanga will be in its final stages. The new line, built in partnership with Transnet Freight Rail, will significantly boost company revenues and is expected to lead to a new age of Swaziland rail transport under Ngubane’s leadership.
