New logistics company launched

A new logistics company has opened its doors in Gauteng headed up by experienced industry stalwart Rob Williams. While the company will initially focus on cross-border transport, an area in which Williams has been closely involved over his 18 years in the industry, it will provide the full spectrum of clearing, transport and warehousing services, offering an end-to-end solution.

“We’re a small team and the company is about service delivery at a costeffective rate,” Williams told FTW. Currently it’s a nonasset-based operation, but plans going forward include the purchase of dedicated vehicles.

“We offer the value-add,” Williams told FTW, “and that’s what we can pass on to our customers.” Williams' career in the industry spans 18 years and is all-encompassing – from clearing and forwarding, seafreight and warehousing to overborder by air, sea and road. The company will initially focus on the DRC, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Namibia and Botswana and future plans could include global destinations in conjunction with strong network partners.

“We have access to over 100 different cross-border transport companies servicing the SADC regions as well as specialised vehicles focusing on abnormal and express movements,” he told FTW. Williams is upbeat about growth. “We’re in the upward trend of the spike and expect to see constant flows over the next two to three years.

“Imports into the rest of Africa are on an upward trajectory. We see big demand in the DRC. And once the mineral prices start to rise we’ll have an equal flow in both directions.”

Border issues remain a challenge, but Williams believes that by ensuring that documentation is 100% correct before the goods leave South Africa delays that are within your control can be mitigated.
