JOY ORLEK KUBEN REDDI has taken over as managing director of Kapele Freight & Logistics Services, bringing to the position 16 years of industry experience. Born and raised in Durban, Reddi joined Kuehne & Nagel in 1989. After completing his apprenticeship he moved up the ranks to operations manager in Durban, followed by branch manager and most recently was general manager based in Johannesburg. Reddi’s appointment at Kapele coincides with the company’s new branding and new strategy. “Over the past five years Kapele has entrenched its status as a sound and progressive BEE freight forwarder, specialising in the hi tech, pharmaceutical, automotive and FMCG industries. “Our focus for the future will be on corporates with a BEE requirement and on diversification,” he told FTW. The company’s BEE compliance is currently being reassessed and Reddi expects it to achieve a first class rating. “The growth of Kapele has been due in part to its true BEE status, but most importantly to its levels of service,” says Reddi. “We have outgrown our current facilities and are in the process of finding bigger premises with a larger warehouse to support the growth.”
