Alan Peat A NEW contender has just entered the Gauteng groupage market, with Durbanbased Nicholson Shipping entering the fray. “It’s obviously the country’s largest NVOCC (non vessel owning common carrier) market,” said director, Marc Edwards. “So we saw this as the ideal area to supplement our Durban and Cape Town operations – which we have established over the last four-years.” Also, discussions with potential clients in Gauteng revealed to Nicholson Shipping that this major market was currently slimly served by groupage operators. “So they were happy to see a new operator offering the NVOCC product in the province,” Edwards added. Nicholson Shipping is offering its whole portfolio of destinations to Gauteng shippers of less-than container load (lcl) export consignments, connecting them with Port L ouis, Mauritius; Singapore; Hamburg, Germany; Felixstowe, UK; Mombasa, Kenya; Dar es Salaam, Tanzania; Tema, Ghana; L agos, Nigeria; Maputo, Mozambique; Seychelles; Abidjan, Ivory Coast; and L uanda, Angola. Johannesburg branch manager is Vimlen Govender, with over 10-years experience in the NVOCC market in Gauteng.
