New fleet adds capacity

Kenya Airways has converted its wide body fleet from A310 to B767-300 ER aircraft. This has increased the capacity on the Johannesburg - Nairobi sector from 8 to 12 tonnes. "This capacity complements the same increased capacity on the Nairobi Lagos, Dubai and Dar es Salaam routes," says Klijnstra. "Transhipment performance is good and we have seen a shift from providing a year round service terminating in Nairobi a year ago to 60 % of our business connecting on Kenya Airways flights to African, Indian and Middle East destinations. Commodities transhipped range from general cargo to perishable goods and live animals. "Live animals in transit are looked after by professional grooms who look after their welfare while in Nairobi. Customer feedback is very positive and Kencargo's investment in modern cargo systems ensures the smooth flow of critical cargo information.
