Hazchem cargo specialist Leschaco is strengthening its logistics network with the launch of a new chemical multipurpose facility in Bremen Industrial Park, Germany.
The development marks the expansion of the company’s capabilities in the less-than-container-load (LCL) and global contract logistics (GCL) segments.
A company statement said it underscored Leschaco’s ongoing commitment to safety, efficiency and sustainability in hazardous materials handling.
Covering a total area of approximately 20 500 square metres (sqms), the new logistics centre offers more than 12 000 pallet spaces in its contract logistics division and a further 6 500 spaces within its container freight station (CFS) operations.
The facility also includes an integrated container packing station, 27 loading ramps and 9 500 sqms of block storage space, providing a flexible and scalable logistics infrastructure.
The facility is equipped with a barcode-based warehouse management system and certification for the Safety of Life at Sea (Solas) convention’s Verified Gross Mass (Solas VGM).
Designed to optimise workflows for export, import, cross-docking and storage, the centre delivers enhanced process transparency, operational efficiency and compliance with international safety standards, the company statement says.
A distinguishing feature of the Bremen site is its dedicated hazardous goods infrastructure.
Twelve standalone storage units situated outside the main building provide an additional 2 000 sqms for the secure handling of chemicals, dangerous goods and lithium-ion batteries.
The facility meets the highest Wassergefährdungsklasse (WGK) and Lager Klasse (LGK) classifications for water hazards and storage, and has been awarded gold certification by the (DGNB) Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen for sustainable construction, recognising its strong environmental and energy performance.
“The new distribution warehouse in Bremen is designed for dual use as both a container freight station and a warehouse. It represents a significant milestone for our LCL and GCL product lines,” said Sebastian Haebler, head of Global Contract Logistics at Leschaco.
“Its strategic location between the ports of Hamburg, Bremerhaven and Wilhelmshaven, alongside our new site in Moerdijk, the Netherlands, enhances supply chain flexibility and proximity to Europe’s key logistics corridors.”
Kai Chladek, head of Global Product Management LCL, added: “This facility significantly enhances our LCL service offering, particularly for hazardous cargo. With its advanced infrastructure and integration into our global network, we are well positioned to deliver reliable, compliant and scalable solutions to customers across a range of industries.”
The new Bremen facility forms part of Leschaco’s wider strategy to align infrastructure investments with evolving customer demands, regulatory standards and sustainability objectives, ensuring continued competitiveness within the global logistics sector, the company statement says.
