Martin started his working career with a combined commercial and IT based apprenticeship in Germany.He came to South Africa in 1994 to join his sister, Susanne Hatesohl, and his brother-in-law, Uli Hatesohl as the fifth employee of CFR Freight SA (PTY) LTD.Together, they grew the company (now renamed SACO CFR) into the leading, neutral NVOCC and airfreight wholesaler, later adding nationwide CFS operations (ZacPak), an air and ocean operation in Mauritius (SACO Shipping) and a leading training academy (MetroMinds) to the group of companies.Having started as IT solutions and administration manager, Martin was operations director and took over as managing director after Uli’s retirement in 2009.For the last 2.5 years he, together with Dave Graham, is leading the SACO CFR group of companies as joint CEO.
