ANNUAL INFLATION in Mozambique fell by 1.1% in May to 12.5%.
This, said Standard Bank Africa researcher Robert Bunyi, followed improved food supplies and lower inflation on most non-food categories of the inflation index.
“Rand strength and poor rainfall make up the main threat to continued decline in inflation,” he added. “Interest rates should remain unchanged at this point to stem inflationary pressures.”
Bunyi believes inflation should average 12.8% for the year.
