THE CASE of alleged fraud laid by SAA against former sub-contract partner Morgan Air, is still under investigation, according to Leon Els, flak-catcher for the national airline.
'The fraud squad (Office for Serious Economic Offences) investigation is not yet complete, he said. This includes allegedly fraudulent declarations of cargo mass and contents, in export airfreight dealings between Morgan Air, and certain members of staff at SAA Cargo. This related to charter contracts for bulk fish cargoes to Spain.
The internal hearings of the allegations against the five SAA staff members (all confirmed as being of relatively senior level) who were suspended as the case was opened, are just about complete, according to Els. The last of these hearings has been pencilled in for this past week, although after FTW deadline.
