More efficient importers reduce express demand

THE STABLE rand has seen importers cleaning up their procurement processes, a trend which has translated into greater demand for ocean freight and a calmer airfreight market, says Sue Woods of Cargocare. But several routes still require express consolidated solutions, says Nadia Raath of the international forwarding desk. “These include India, China, United Kingdom and Germany where we liaise closely with clients and our offices overseas, determine the deadlines and then transfer cargo to express consolidated options.” Cargocare CEO Roland Raath believes that China, as a supplier, is fast replacing euro currency-based products. “We will see greater demand for space and frequency in the future,” says Raath. “China has become our number one trading partner and is probably now one of our strongest routes.”
