Mombasa milestone

A year since the launch of its dredging project, the Port of Mombasa is now geared up to handle third and fourth generation vessels, Kenya Ports Authority managing director Gichiri Ndua said last week when two maiden callers made history for the port. The MSC Tia was the longest-ever container vessel to call while the ro-ro vessel Jolly Perla made Mombasa her first port of call in Africa. She discharged and loaded approximately 969 TEUs and 75 units of motorcars.
