Safmarine's Heesom-Green speaks out on acquisition rumours JOY ORLEK SAFMARINE CEO Ivan Heesom-Green has firmly denied media reports emanating from the UK hinting at the possible sale of Safmarine in the light of the AP Møller acquisition of P&O Nedlloyd. “Safmarine is not for sale,” he told FTW in an exclusive interview from Antwerp last week. “The P&O Nedlloyd activity related to the South Africa – Europe Container Service (Saecs) trade will be divested as a condition of the clearance granted by the EU for the PON acquisition following responses from SA customers. “No further divestments are foreseen,” he said.
