MOL enters Europe route

Cargo transhipped in Abidjan THE LAUNCH by Mitsui OSK Line of a new service between Europe and the West Coast of Africa today (June 28) will realise the line's long-held objective of entering the Europe Ð South Africa route, albeit on a transhipment basis. The new service, to be known as the African Rainbow Express, will employ two MOL-operated vessels on a fixed day, bi-weekly frequency calling southbound at Antwerp, Felixstowe, Le Havre, Dakar, Conakry, Abidjan and Tema and northbound at Abidjan, Dakar, Las Palmas, Leixoes and Antwerp. South African cargo will be served via transhipment at Abidjan using the line's Far East services. Additional European ports will be served via transhipment in Le Havre, and other African ports via Abidjan. While the service provides local shippers with a new transhipment option on the Europe route, MOL's ultimate objective is still a direct service.
