The shipping line MISC Berhad is to temporarily withdraw from the SA trade. The Malaysian-based carrier has concluded that the market is presently overtonnaged, and the line felt it was unable to sustain its current service until things improved. This will hit the line’s Asia-SA (ASA) service where it slot-charters space on a service jointly operated by K-Line and Pacific International Line (Pil). This withdrawal, according to Chris Holton, MD of SA ships agents, Bridge Marine, will be effective from the Alexandria Bridge voyage 015W, which is expected to call in Durban on March 27.
