Upgrades at the Maun

International Airport in

Botswana are on track and expected

to be completed on deadline.

With two phases of upgrades

already completed, the current third

phase of work will be completed by

January next year.

According to a spokesman for the

Botswana Press Agency (BOPA),

the first and second phases saw

upgrading of airside works and

airport services. A new extended

runway has been one of the big

achievements.

The current upgrading involves

work on the air traffic control tower

and technical block.

Upgrades to the airport, once

completed, will see it become a

leader in the region in terms of air

access.

In a statement BOPA said the

airport’s runway would in future

have the capacity to take the

equivalent of a B737.
