MAKING ITS maiden call in K ZN ports last week was the 180 000-dwt IVS Cabernet, owned by Durban-based Island View Shipping. The Capesize ship berthed at the Richards Bay Coal Terminal to load coal for Le Havre. The 289m long, 45m wide bulker has a draught of 18.15m fully laden and entered service in October 2007, one of five Capesize bulkers in the growing IVS fleet. While in port IVS held a function on IVS Cabernet for ships’ agents, stevedores, port officials and other involved personnel. Not one but two masters of the Capesize bulker accepted commemorative plaques marking her maiden call.
