Felix Scheder-Bieschin... move makes logical sense
MARITIME CARRIER Shipping will relocate its head office to Cape Town at the end of this year.
"Key personnel from the local office will move to the Mother City, but a strong Johannesburg branch will
be maintained," managing director Felix Scheder-Bieschin told FTW.
The move makes logical sense, says Scheder-Bieschin. "Shipping has become far more international, and there is no need to be based in Johannesburg to take care of key customers.
"In fact a lot of the ancillary infrastructure that we need is based at the coast, rather than inland."
Scheder-Bieschin has spent the past 10 years
in Johannesburg and has enjoyed the pace and vibrance of the city.
"But for a shipping line, the coast is the place to
be," he said.
MACS is one of the last remaining lines to join the head office exodus to the coast.
