KAREN YORK has joined forwarding major Expeditors as district manager for Johannesburg.
Dynamic and energetic, the Detroit-born York brings to the position a global perspective having lived on three continents and visited five.
She graduated from New York University with a Bachelor of Science degree after which she joined forwarding company Uti and took up a position in its Taiwan office from 1989 - 95, working her way up to international sales manager.
She transferred to Uti Johannesburg as Far East manager six years ago, later being promoted to general manager sales and forwarding, the position she vacated to take up the Expeditors challenge.
After six years in South Africa, and married to a South African, York regards herself as a local, finding no difficulty in assimilating with the culture of the country.
She is currently studying for
her MBA through Netherlands University.
