HIGH GROWTH rates in the airfreight sector have motivated an expansion of the airfreight management team at Logwin AG (the international parent company of the local operation, previously trading under the name Birkart Globistics). The objective is to optimise the procurement processes and the co-operation with core carriers, according to Helmut Kaspers, chief operating officer of the air and ocean business segment at Logwin. “We will be developing a global airfreight management function with regional structures," he told FTW. “Within the context of this company strategy we are restructuring central functions such as purchasing, product management and sea-air concepts.” The international airfreight activities will be brought together and further developed by Volker Hoebelt – in the newlycreated position of director, global airfreight. This will be added to his current portfolio as director, global sales and marketing.
