I refer to the article in
the latest FTW (June
7, 2013) headlined
‘Cabotage legislation
moves closer’.
Heaven help South
Africa if this is the
calibre of industry
leaders who pontificate
over things about
which they have no
understanding or
knowledge!
I would be interested
to see this gentleman’s
credentials, which
enable him to make such
comments, especially the
one about project cargo....
With respect to this
gentleman, it sounds like
he is about to pop up
with another cadre who
has some kind of a deal
with another cadre who
has a friend who has a
ship which is about to let
rip in our coastal waters.
Can this
gentleman kindly point
out the South Africanregistered
vessels which
can carry project cargo
please?
This makes the farce
of BBEE seem like rocket
science!
Maybe I have missed
something here,
but placing such a
restriction on coastal
traffic and limiting it to
SA-registered vessels will
further serve to protect/
shelter operators and
restrict the free-market
system even further!
It smacks of socialist
protectionism
