Korean shipbuilding blues

According to the data compiled by global researcher Clarkson Research Services, South Korean shipbuilders’ new orders in November fell to the lowest level in six years.

Its shipyards had a new orders total of 79 834 compensated gross tons (CGTs) last month, the lowest since September 2009.

In contrast, Chinese shipbuilders received 1.46 million CGTs worth of new orders last month, while Japan took 3rd place with 50 000 CGTs.
