THE TAIWANESE independent sea carrier, Kien Hung Line, is to launch a brand new fleet on a new trade for the line connecting Far East, SA and West Africa.
This will be in addition to its current service which links Far East, SA and the east coast of South America.
While Kien Hung has confirmed its intention to deploy the fleet this year, no information is yet
available on the vessels although a web service has suggested these will be 2 200 TEU (twenty foot equivalent unit) capacity ships - the port rotation, or scheduling.
Information released to FTW tells that the line's West African agents have just spent this month visiting Taipei to finalise matters. This week (January 24) marks the Chinese New Year and the Taipei management of Kien Hung will be taking a seasonal rest.
But, FTW was assured, the line's investigative team will then do a final market assessment of West Africa
in February, with the announcement of service details due soon after.
