Kenya Airways announced yesterday (January 12) that it would sell two Boeing 777-200 ER aircraft to US-based airline Omni Air International as part of a bid to recover from its current loss-making position.
“Although we announced our intention to rationalise our fleet in line with our current position more than a year ago, it has taken a while to find a good home for our B777-200,” Kenya Airways chief executive officer Mbuvi Ngunze was quoted by Kenyan online news platform Business Daily as saying.
Kenyan airlines blamed its R4.1 million loss on competition from Middle East carriers and high operating costs.
