Kenya reiterates call for improved visa rules to SA

Kenya is negotiating a “uniform set of rules” around immigration and trade with South Africa which it hopes will improve commercial links between the two countries.
Kenya’s Daily Nation newspaper quoted Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary, Amina Mohamed, as saying that despite South Africa lessening some of its visa conditions on Kenyans last month, the rules were still stringent.
“Some have been partially addressed but they remain squarely on the table,” she reportedly said during the Kenya Trade and Investment Summit in Pretoria on Friday.
“Even here much more needs to be done. We must finally agree to a bilateral standard regime applicable to the two countries,” she added.
