IT MAY take up to a year before Kenya’s Eldoret International Airport fulfils its export potential. Ideally situated for fresh produce exports, the airport currently only links to Dubai. While more convenient for fresh produce compared to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in N airobi, exporters often send mixed cargoes to different destinations and find it more practical to export through JKIA. According to Kenya’s Business Report, the Fresh Produce Exporters’ Association of Kenya is trying to persuade importers to bring in their imports through Eldoret so that the planes can fly out with produce for export, thus diversifying the destinations.
