Keeping customers up in the cCloud …

IT systems must be able to keep up with the times, says Nachi Mendelow of Compu-Clearing. “Apart from the need to keep pace with regulatory changes, they must also be constantly redeveloped to leverage the latest in IT platforms, communication protocols, programming languages and security.” A system that is not up to date with the latest customs requirements, says Mendelow, can cause major delays and expenses as entries can be rejected or worse penalties issued. “Customs requirements are constantly changing and companies should therefore ensure that their IT systems keep abreast of these changes.” According to Mendelow, Compu-Clearing has undertaken a process of evolution to leverage these improvements and changes needed by systems as South Africa finally joins the information super-highway. This against the background of the rapid telecommunication improvements under way. “We have developed cCloud, a cloud-based layer that sits on top of the Compu-Clearing engine and allows clients web access to selected modules and reports. The cCloud has been written in a combination of JAVA, .net and RPG. “We have also developed our tariff book to make use of these technologies and we are now even looking at developing a Tariff book app for the Ipad. With all the developments we will ensure that we are accessible across multiple platforms and geared for the future.”
