Higher commercial vehicle sales point to improved sentiment

SALES OF medium and heavy trucks increased for the second month in a row during August, a sign of improved fixed investment sentiment in the economy, says the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa. According to the associationÕs official figures, sales of vehicles in the medium and heavy truck segments of the industry during August, 2001 recorded gains of 88 units or 21.6%, in the case of medium commercial vehicles, and 83 units or 14.9%, in the case of heavy trucks and buses - compared to the corresponding month last year.
