Henegan launches auditing company

AFTER 55 years in the freight forwarding industry, Pat Henegan is not planning to put down his pens just yet. In fact just the opposite. Having s old his shares in Heneways, the clearing and forwarding company he established some 30 years ago, he’s embarking on a new venture - PD Henegan Freighting Industry and Shipping Consultants. “It will operate as a totally independent entity, auditing customs payments and shipping charges and ensuring that the importer is not overpaying duties or freight charges,” says Henegan. “The client has nothing to lose because any payments will be based on a percentage of the amount recovered.” Henegan has set up a team of professionals with the expertise and know-how to deliver the goods and he’s confident that significant refunds can be achieved. A colleague in the industry recently discovered an R18-m overpayment in duty for one of his clients, simply by applying the correct duty to the product in question. With his impressive track record in the industry - chairman and president of the SA Association of Freight Forwarders and a member of the Minister of Transport’s Advisory Council - he believes he and his staff have the credentials to make a difference. Henegan is keen to set up an appointment with top management of importing companies to provide an overview of the benefits the audit activities can provide.
