Heavy haul conference to address under-investment in transport infrastructure

The deficit in transport infrastructure on the African continent due to lack of investment is set to come under the spotlight at the 11th International Heavy Haul Association (IHHA) conference in Cape Town this year.

This is as it makes it harder for heavy hauliers to deliver raw materials from production areas to markets and drives up the costs of moving goods, according to an IHHA spokesperson.

The five-day event – held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from September 2-6 – will bring together over 100 heavy haul rail executives professionals and engineers, with representatives from over 25 countries.

Speakers at the conference will share global expertise on how to improve efficiencies, safety and the viability of the industry in order to accelerate industrialisation.
