‘Handful’ of majors dominates logistics arena

THE WORLD logistics and freight forwarding market is now in the control of a “handful of major players that claim to have global coverage", according to the Unctad review of Maritime Transport 2 007. According to the report, DHL Global Forwarding is the largest logistics provider, taking into account air, sea and customs brokerage revenues. Kuehne & Nagel and Schenker make up the top three. “There is a considerable gap separating those companies from the next largest forwarder, Panalpina,” adds the report.
