Is Grindrod set to expand further?

RUMOURS ARE rife of big changes ahead for prominent black empowerment company Uniroute Logistics. According to this ‘wharf talk’ matters are close to coming to a head regarding an announcement of either a buy-out or partnership deal.
Uniroute Logistics started operations in 2000 with a financial commitment from the Newlyn Group, which is under the control of the Balmakhun Family Trust, which in turn has control of extensive strategic warehousing and developmental sites in the main coastal and inland ports, some of them old Spoornet PX/CX sites.
Just how and why the current rumours and stories began is anybody’s guess but may have something to do with the comings and goings of some senior personnel at Uniroute Logistics. Either way the word is to expect an announcement in the near future.
And the hottest tip in this regard, written before the week gets underway, says to watch the Grindrod Group, which is back on the expansion trail – although some might question whether they ever got off.
‘Wharf Talk’ says there are also a number of other potential buyers/partners lined up with offers.
