Quadrant Ships Agency
to close its doors
THERE HAS been a rationalisation of the Grincor Group's ships agency subsidiaries.
As of March 1, King & Sons will take over the agency function for Quadrant Container Line in South Africa. At the same time, Quadrant Ships Agency will shut its doors.
Many of the QSA staff, said m.d. Mike Ford, who are fully familiar with customers' needs, will be employed by King & Sons - ensuring there is no disruption to the agency services.
We are confident that King & Sons will provide the same level of professional service supplied to their other representations - namely Macs, CCAL, Norsul, IRISL, and GAL.
There's sense in this consolidation within the group, according to Dave Rennie, chief executive of Grincor's shipping arm - pointing to the fact that there has been QSA, King & Sons and Mitchell Cotts all vying for business out of the Grincor stable. Essentially, liner shipping is tight, and return is not as one would like, he said. This streamlines the agency operation, and we are looking to it also improving the profitability.
