Giant gantry crane contract awarded to local company

Caillard has awarded a R20 million contract for four new gantry cranes to Richards Bay engineering company Rowley Morgan Engineering (RME).
Caillard is a division of Rolls Royce Industrial Power, and was earlier awarded several contracts to build or refurbish Portnet cranes at several ports. RMW will fabricate the three new Richards Bay ship unloaders and one ship loader at its Richards Bay plant in two phases.
The first phase will see one ship unloader and the ship loader being delivered by mid 1999, with the balance of two unloaders due for delivery later that same year.
