Ghana becomes China’s biggest African trade partner

The value of trade between Ghana and China reached US$5.6 billion at the end of 2014, making Ghana the Asian country's single biggest trading partner out of Africa.

The Chronicle, a Ghana-based daily newspaper, cited the Chinese ambassador to Ghana, Sun Baohong, as saying: "Our economic and trade co-operation has achieved gratifying results; trade volume has surged from less than US$100 million in 2000 to US$5.6 billion in 2014.”

Ghana's exports to China hit US$1.4 billion last year – another historical high - Sun said at a reception to mark the 55th anniversary of the establishment of China-Ghana diplomatic relations this week.
