Germany’s two prestige
brands – Mercedes and
BMW – are reported to be
sharing resources such as
logistics in order to cut costs.
It is part of an increasing
trend in the auto industry
to share “beneath the
skin” components and
support infrastructure, such
as logistics and hidden
components.
Meanwhile a “new cars for
old” government incentive is
keeping the medium vehicle
sector and its suppliers busy.
The German government
is awarding a €2 500
incentive for German's
to trade in their old, gasguzzling
and rusted models
for a new car of any brand –
so reducing carbon emissions
and retaining jobs in one go.
