French air controllers’ strike hits over 1 000 flights

A five-day strike until 19:00 Friday by French air traffic controllers has seen over 1 000 flights throughout the week already cancelled.

Controllers from Brest, Bordeaux, Aix-en-Provence, Nice and Marseille airports have downed tools. But it’s not just those airports that are affected. The industrial action has had a knock-on effect across the country.

Flights to and from French airports and transiting French airspace are affected.

French aviation authorities say around 25% of flights to, from, or over the south of France are affected and that number rises to 33% for the rest of the country.
