Freight World opens Jo’burg office

Harare-based Freight World has opened its own offices in Johannesburg and has plans to open additional offices in Musina and Durban in order to offer a full “one stop shop service which is not reliant on third parties,” says executive chairman Ben Mukandi. It also supports the expansion of Freight World’s footprint into the Southern African Development Community region. “As a fully fledged logistics and freight company we are handling exports to Zambia, Malawi and Botswana, in addition to freight bound for Zimbabwe,” says Mukandi. In addition to Johannesburg, the company has offices in Harare (headquarters and airport office), Bulawayo, Nyamapanda, Forbes/Mutare, Plumtree, Chirundu and Beitbridge/Musina. Freight World’s Johannesburg office, which is headed up by Quenten McCurrie, provides a full forwarding and support service for customers using the South African gateways. With the opening of the office the company has been able to launch its scheduled own roadfreight consolidation service. Vehicles leave Gauteng on Mondays (delivery in Harare Friday) and Thursday (delivery in Harare Monday). A consolidation service is also provided to Zimbabwean shippers for the return leg. International support is provided by global logistics company DSV Air and Sea.
