The Zambia Customs & Forwarding Agents Association (ZCFAA) is celebrating its 30th birthday this year. It was founded in 1989 with eight members (representing around 90% of the agents at the time). The association estimates that its members now handle approximately 85% of the Zambian international trade movements and collect an average of 80% of the government trade tax revenues. The ZCFAA is registered with the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (Fiata) and The Federation of Clearing and Forwarding Associations of Southern Africa (FCFASA). ZCFAA chairperson John Mumba sits on the FCFASA executive board. “The ZCFAA believes in promoting customs-private sector partnership and dialogue with the government ministries in order to create a conducive cross-border trading environment with prompt and correct revenue collection,” according to a statement from the organisation.
