Add together a global forwarding and an express/ courier company and you’ve got a genuine “one-stoplogistics shop”, according to Neil Harris, MD of Texcon Shipping. This, he told FTW, was the logic behind the 2005 foundation of Texcon and its relationship with sister company, Courierit. “Texcon adds value to the group,” said Harris, “through its offering of international logistics solutions. Port-to-port or door-to-door is our speciality, through services that encompass international courier or freight imports and exports – whether by air, sea or road. Courierit is an independent specialist in domestic express airfreight distribution – with its express/courier document and parcel services operating through branches in all major centres and with extensive international reach through Texcon’s global networks. “Through the group’s partnership with Bradian Logistics,” added Harris, “we are also able to offer state-of-the-art warehousing facilities with pick/pack abilities.” Texcon Shipping was born out of the demand from the existing Courierit customer base – spanning over 3 000 customers – who had an import and/or export component to their businesses. “We have been extremely successful with various international contracts in our short history” said Harris. “This can be attributed to its ethos of personalised relationships and hand-tohand, tailor-made logistics solutions to anywhere around the globe.” Texcon is a registered clearing agent, and a member of the SA Association of Freight Forwarders (Saaff) and the Exporters’ Club of SA.
