Kevin Mayhew LUSAKA’S ONLINE Express Couriers recently merged its identity with the expanding Globeflight Worldwide Express with which it has been interfacing since 1999. The Globeflight network now extends to 34 African countries and it has an office in London with links that give it an international network. “We have been working together for some time now and it made sense to take a single identity as it has many advantages for us due to the network and size of Globeflight,” says managing director of Globeflight Worldwide Express Zambia, Charles Nkandu. It offers an express courier service to the world and Nkandu has great faith in the future. He concedes that it is a challenging market given that he has to pitch against some very big international names. On the negative side he says that Zambian government policies are not geared to uplifting the smaller businessman. “Support initiatives almost compel you to link with a larger company to get ahead and I think the government should rather look to providing greater support for homegrown initiatives that want to expand and be contenders,” he added.
