Traffic flow along Cape Town’s M3 and M5 freeways is set to be impacted for the next four weeks after road resurfacing started along certain sections last week.
According to a city spokesman the resurfacing will be scheduled in such a way that it will limit the impact as far as possible.
On the M5 the affected stretch of freeway includes the southbound carriageway from the Wetton Road Bridge to the first bridge joint, on the northbound carriageway from the last bridge joint to the Wetton Road Bridge as well as the Ottery on-ramp and off-ramp.
Along the M3 resurfacing is currently taking place along the southbound carriageway from the Kendal Road Bridge up to the unfinished bridge.
“One lane of traffic will always be kept open to traffic, but it is anticipated that the road resurfacing will require the closure of one lane that could lead to congestion for traffic moving through the area of the roadworks,” said the spokesman.
