The cold sterilising capacity
of the Port Elizabeth Cold
Storage (PECS) terminal at
Coega has been increased
in order to meet growing
demand for the pre-cooling
of apples and pears, as well
as requirements of markets
particularly in the East
for fruit to undergo a cold
sterilisation process.
It can now cold sterilise
1 200 pallets of citrus, apples
or pears at a time, according
to director Mark Jensen.
