NOMPELO NDZIMELA EMIRATES SKYCARGO has added a fourth Boeing 747-400F to its freighter fleet which now stands at six aircraft, all Boeing 747s including two -200Fs. The long-range freighter has capacity for 124 tonnes, increasing SkyCargo’s total freighter payload capability to nearly 700 tonnes. The new freighter, leased from Atlas Air, came on board on October 1, the date on which Emirates launched its two new destinations - Johannesburg and Lahore. “Our freighters add much needed capacity on high-density routes worldwide and provide considerable flexibility, particularly related to time-sensitive, perishable and outsized cargo, within the entire supply chain,” said Ram Menen, Emirates’ senior vice president cargo.
