Emigration generates big business for Freight-X

MARK JACKSON-MOSS THE MOVEMENT OF personal effects and unaccompanied luggage abroad is big business for Johannesburg-based transport broker Freight-X. “Our forte lies in airfreight, yet our umbrella covers all transport modes,” says Freight-X’s Eugene Watson. “It’s sad that emigration is fuelling this boom, but in the current state of the industry, no one can say no to business. “It’s all about communication and planning,” says Watson on dealing with the increased pressure on the existing infrastructure. “We make use of back-routes to challenge the efficiency issues on Gauteng’s roads.” The company has reinforced its internal operations by taking on a logistics specialist and a dedicated ocean freight consultant. “Experience and expertise get the job done,” adds Watson. “We do everything the big boys do. It just annoys me when they don’t do it well.”
