One of the country’s major furniture removal specialists, Elliott Afrovan, has extended its tentacles into international clearing and forwarding According to Jenny Potgieter, Durban-based GM of Elliott International Clearing and Forwarding, the company’s strength in both household and corporate removals provides the core business of the clearing and forwarding operation. It is an area of speciality, she told FTW, that most forwarders tend to avoid. “The intricacies involved with the paperwork as well as the demand from the customers make these shipments unique,” Potgieter said. “But we are already geared up for this because of our intimate awareness of the documentation requirements and procedures in domestic and international removals.” Elliott International Clearing and Forwarding can supply every individual link along the supply chain, and is able to offer a complete door-to-door service, said Potgieter. “We listen to what our customers want, and are extremely flexible in the service we can provide.” Linked into the Elliott Group, the forwarding company is capable of handling a full spectrum of services – the supply of the boxes and specialised packing materials; packing of the boxes at the customers’ premises; transportation utilising the Elliott fleet of vehicles; consolidation of groupage cargo; customs clearance documentation; as well as tracking of shipments throughout the supply chain to its final destination. Assisting with its removals into Africa, Elliott International Clearing and Forwarding has an established office in Gaborone. “Botswana is our African hub,” said Potgieter, “receiving and distributing cargoes around the rest of the continent. “For the international movement of goods, we have an established global network of partners capable of handling cargo in this highly specialised field.”
