Ehrenreich launches new logistics company

There’s a new name in the South African logistics market – headed up by a familiar industry personality. Johannesburg-based Mareco Logistics South Africa has just opened its doors, with Peter Ehrenreich at the helm. Ehrenreich, who has spent the past 24 years with the AP Moller-Maersk/Safmarine group, most recently as Safmarine’s regional senior executive for the Far East and Oceania based in Singapore, has returned to South Africa to set up the new venture. Danish-born Ehrenreich, who fell in love with South Africa when he arrived here to head up the Maersk South Africa operation several years ago, is co-owner of the company with his Belgian friend Koen Janssen. Janssen has since 2002 run Mareco in Belgium, with a branch recently opened in Brazil. “We have now launched the South Africa operation, also covering other African countries through extensive agency agreements,” Ehrenreich told FTW. The company offers the full spectrum of logistics services to and from South and southern Africa covering dry cargo, reefer cargo, containerised shipments as well as break bulk projects. “Mareco Logistics does not specialise in any particular market segments, but we do have a lot of experience in temperature-controlled transport,” Ehrenreich told FTW. “Our Belgian and Brazil offices are well placed to handle reefer shipments and we have several specialists in the field.”
