GROWING BUSINESS with India has motivated locally based groupage operator Export Consolidation Services to open an office in New Delhi. This is in addition to its office in Mumbai.
During the sanctions years we operated to India through Mauritius and Singapore, but after the 1994 transformation we started dealing directly with agents on the sub-continent, ECS Durban director Jay Maharaj told FTW.
The increase in traffic has, however, encouraged us to offer a more hands-on operation to ensure greater control of cargo from both sides.
During the past seven years, trade between South Africa and India has increased from R258m to over R2-billion annually, says Maharaj.
