COMPLEMENTING ITS new Asia-SA-South America service (see page 1), P&O Nedlloyd has just upgraded its Asia-SA-West Africa service - sailing under the WACCON (West Africa and connecting services) acronym.
The tonnage specification has been upped and the service goes weekly, fixed-day after April.
Its port rotation is: Shanghai, Busan, Keelung, Hong Kong, Singapore, Durban, Apapa, Cotonou, Lome, Tema, Abidjan, Cape Town (Alt), Durban (Alt), Port Louis, Colombo, Singapore, Shanghai.
This service, said PONL marketing manager, Iain McIntosh, provides fast transits from Asia, as well as direct services to-and-from Shanghai.
Many other Chinese destinations are opened up by using both WACCON and SAFESA in our Asian network of services which can also connect cargo to numerous other worldwide destinations.
The new service structure will provide SA exporters with a much greater coverage of the West African coast, McIntosh added.
The WACCON service also provides customers with a fast, regular service to Port Louis and Colombo, he told FTW.
Combining our new services offers further opportunities to connect West Africa cargo through to SA, and on to Asia and South American markets.
