E Cape rail gets Dutch input

IMPROVING RAIL transport in the Eastern Cape was top of the agenda when a Dutch delegation met government officials in the province last week. This was in the context of a protocol signed between South Africa and the Netherlands in 2000. The railway line between East London and Mthatha, widely known as the Kei Rail Project, has already been refurbished. The long-term vision is to develop a high speed, modern railway line on this corridor to provide a cost-effective alternative for freight and passenger services between East London and Mthatha,” roads and transport MEC Thobile Mhlahlo said.
