E-mail: riaan@importsolutions.co.za Increase of Statutory Levy on Plums: Response Due The National Agricultural Marketing Council (NAMC) has received a request from the Deciduous Fruit Producers’ Trust for an increase in the statutory levy on plums by 2c/kg (on export plums from 6.5c/kg to 8.5c/kg and on domestic plums from 3c/kg to 5c/kg). It is proposed that the increase take effect from 1 October 2006 to 30 September 2007. All interested parties are invited to provide comment in writing by no later than 30 June 2006. No Tariff Amendments – 15 June 2006 Tariff Applications – Response Due The reduction in the rate of customs duty (duty) on tenoforvir disproxil fumarate (anti-retroviral active ingredient) from 10% ad valorem to free of duty. The amendment of the rebate item, for the importation of sodium hydroxide (caustic soda) for the manufacture of uncoated paper and paperboard, toilet or facial tissue stock, towel or napkin stock and similar paper of a kind used for household sanitary purposes, and paper and paperboard, coated on both sides with kaolin (China clay).
